General Information

Ennis College of Further Education offers a range of PLC and continuing education courses as follows:

  • Accounting Technician Course, certified by Accounting Technicians Ireland.
  • QQI-Quality and Qualifications Ireland, certify all other courses.

Our courses are designed to cater for the needs of both recent Leaving Certificate students and mature students who may wish to acquire additional skills and training in certain vocational areas.

Our courses not only offer certification for people seeking employment but also a progression pathway to many third level courses through the Higher Education Links Scheme.  Those interested in the latter may choose from a limited number of places in the Universities and Institutes of Technology, reserved for students who obtain a QQI Level 5 and 6 Awards.

assessment

Continuous assessment takes place on all PLC courses. Work produced throughout the year such as projects and assignments will be graded and will contribute towards final assessment.

work experience

Work experience forms an integral part of all QQI Level 5  and 6 Award Courses. Students will seek work experience in an environment that relates specifically to the course options chosen by them.

guidance counsellor

Students can avail of professional guidance and advice from the Guidance Counsellor. Individual appointments may be made and students are guaranteed confidentiality.

costs

In line with the Department of Education & Skills guidelines, there are no tuition fees. However, the following are payable:

  • €20 non-refundable administration fee with your application
  • €100 registration fee
  • €200 DES contribution – see exemptions under Finance
  • €50 QQI exam fees payable in January – see exemptions under Finance
  • Some modules will require the purchase of text books and other Materials.
  • Some Programmes require participation in First Aid, Manual Handling or Patient Handling at an additional cost.
  • Non-EU Nationals who do not meet the exemption requirements are liable for a full tuition fee of €3,653 as per instruction of the Department of Education and Skills. The College Registration and Exam Fees are also payable. The tuition fee is non-refundable. A non-EU national is not liable for the PLC Government Fee of €200.

finance

  • Maintenance grants: grants are available to eligible students. Please check www.susi.ie for further details.
  • Department of Education and Skills €200 contribution/examination fees: students on the Back to Education scheme, medical card holders or dependents of medical card holders and students eligible for maintenance grants will be exempt from paying the mandatory Department of Education and Skills contribution of €200.
  • Medical card holders will also be exempt from QQI examination fees.
  • Social Welfare recipients: recipients of Social Welfare payments, contact the offices of the Department of Family and Social Affairs before commencing the course.
