National Certificate in Office Administration / Medical Secretary

Aim of the Course

This course will provide students with the secretarial skills/medical terminology required to perform tasks with a high level of proficiency in a modern office environment or medical practice.



Entry Requirements

Applicants must possess the Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied or equivalent. If you are over 21 you can apply to enrol as a mature student on the basis of your age and experience. The learner must be Garda vetted to avail of college facilities.

Work Experience

Students are placed in various offices for two weeks to gain office experience and to establish contact with prospective employers.


One year full-time course from September to May.

Course Fees

As the course is NDP funded, there are no tuition fees. However, the following are payable:

  • €20 non-refundable administration fee with your application form
  • €100 registration fee on commencement of the course
  • €200 contribution to the Department of Education & Skills; see here for exemptions
  • €50 exam fees payable in January; see here for exemptions
  • Some modules will require the purchase of a text book
